Mark Gemini Thwaite

Mark Gemini Thwaite (aka MGT) is a British guitarist, songwriter, and producer whose career spans more than three decades and a staggering range of styles, from goth and industrial to rock and post-punk. Born in Birmingham, England, Mark began playing in local bands before moving into the broader UK and international music scene. He first gained wide attention as guitarist for The Mission, contributing to classic releases and touring extensively throughout the UK and Europe.

Over the years, Mark has become known for his versatility and his ability to step into many musical worlds while always bringing his distinctive guitar voice. He has been a member of or worked with artists including Tricky (contributing guitar to multiple albums), Peter Murphy (touring and recording on Ninth and The Secret Bees of Ninth), Gary Numan (touring guitarist for the Savage era), Spear of Destiny, Theatre of Hate, Mob Research, and countless others across rock, goth, industrial, and alternative scenes. Beyond these collaborations, Mark has appeared live and in the studio with a long list of artists including Al Jourgensen (Ministry), Revolting Cocks, P.J. Harvey, Alanis Morissette, Roger Daltrey (The Who), Combichrist, Primitive Race, and many more — a testament to both his skill and his reputation as a go-to guitarist in a wide variety of settings.

In recent years, Mark has also been an integral part of The Wonder Stuff, joining the band in 2019 and contributing as a co-writer and guitarist on their most recent album, Better Being Lucky. The band’s legacy and continued momentum are undeniable, with a history of Top 5 UK albums, a No. 1 single with “Dizzy,” and a live presence that still draws packed, often sold-out theatres. Alongside ongoing festival appearances, The Wonder Stuff are heading into another headlining UK tour later this year. In 2016, Mark embarked on a solo path under the name MGT, releasing his debut album Volumes — a record featuring guest appearances by Ville Valo (HIM), Wayne Hussey, Ricky Warwick (Thin Lizzy/Black Star Riders), and others — followed by Gemini Nyte in 2018. His solo work blends his many influences into personal, expansive compositions that push his playing into new terrain.

Mark continues to tour and record, most recently as part of headline runs with Peter Murphy & David J on the 40 Years of Bauhaus Ruby Celebration tour. His prolific work includes contributing to emerging projects such as Sevendials alongside Chris Connelly and Paul Ferguson, Absolute Power with Napalm Death’s Shane and Johnny, and Nostalghia which appeared in John Wick 2.

Whether you’re a guitar player, touring musician, or just a fan of deep music history, Mark’s journey is packed with insight, resilience, and passion.
