Statik

Statik is the sonic architect behind Collide’s immersive blend of darkwave, trip-hop, and industrial atmospheres. With over three decades of experience, he has built a career that moves fluidly between the underground and the mainstream—working in the studio with artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, System of the Down, Tool, and Skinny Puppy (to name a few!) while also crafting Collide’s distinctive, fiercely independent sound alongside vocalist kaRIN.

Collide’s discography spans albums such as Beneath the Skin, Chasing the Ghost, Counting to Zero, and Color of Nothing, as well as their haunting covers album These Eyes Before. They’ve embraced remix culture, collaborating with and reimagining tracks for dozens of artists, while inviting others to reinterpret their own songs. Through their label Noiseplus Music, Statik has handled production, mixing, mastering, and distribution completely in-house—long before DIY independence was the norm.

Beyond his work in Collide, Statik’s resume as an engineer and programmer has taken him into the heart of major tours and studio sessions, where he’s refined his skills in sound design, sequencing, and production on both grand stages and intimate creative spaces.

Whether you’re a producer, an indie artist building your own path, or a fan of meticulously crafted dark electronic music, this conversation will offer rare insight into the mind of a master sound sculptor.
