DJ and MC stage plot template

The DJ at a table at the back with turntables and a booth monitor, the MC out front on a vocal mic with two wedges. It is a short input list, but the details matter: the table height, the booth monitor, and where the DJ mixer plugs in.

The table is marked as the house's. Ask for a sturdy one at standing height; turntables skip on a wobbly table.

What it asks of the venue

This plot needs 3 channels, which fits easily on a small club's 16-channel desk. It asks for 2 monitor mixes and 2 power drops (places that need an outlet).

From the house: table. Check they have it when you advance the show; if not, bring your own or ask what they can do.

Making it yours

  • Say how your mixer outputs: RCA, quarter-inch or XLR. It decides which cables the venue brings.
  • If you use a controller instead of turntables, swap the decks for a DJ controller in the maker.
  • If the MC brings a wireless mic, change the mic in the input list so the venue knows it needs a receiver channel, not a cable.
